A few days later, we had a meeting at Auntie Melanie’s house (Karen’s Mom) and came up with a fundraising idea that highlight poverty in Jakarta. We also created our blog email and password, and organized our time table.
The IB Learner Profiles that we showed are Thinker when we thought of the Lines of Inquiry questions. We were Knowledgable when we used all our knowledge to think of the Central Idea and Lines of Inquiry. We have also been Open-Minded when we listened to each others ideas and thoughts without disturbing each other. The Attitudes that we showed are Creativity when we made the mind map as creative as possible. We also showed Respect to Auntie Bindiya (Raeya’s Mom) when she came to mentor us in the first week. The skill that we shown is Social Skills when we talked and had suggestions about our blog email and our fundraising.

Group Reflection #3
A month ago we had a fieldtrip to a school under the bridge in Pondok Domba, Daan Mogot, Jakarta. There, we took some pictures of the students and some other people. All of us communicated with them. We also donated food and goody bags for them and they were very happy. In this week auntie Melanie ( Karen’s mom ) and auntie Bindiya ( Raeya’s mom ) mentored us and we discussed about our book selling project. In this week each of us also picked our best picture that we took in the school under the bridge and we’re going to edit it, print it and make it into notebook covers. We sold notebooks and the covers are the pictures that we took. All of the money were donated to the school under the bridge.
In this week for the PYP Attitudes we showed Respect because we respected the students there. We also showed Risk-Takers because we introduced ourselves in front of the class and we sang some songs for them. For the IB Learner profiles we showed Caring because we cared about the students. We also showed Thinker because we came up with the idea of this fieldtrip. For the skills we showed Communication skills and Social skills because we communicated and socialized with the students there.

Group Reflection #4
In this week we have pulled together fundraising rally in school for 3 days. The fundraising was to raise money from selling our photography binder books. On the cover of that binder book was a picture took by each of us while in a fieldtrip to a school under the bridge. We all have different covers with different picture. When we were selling these books we showed enthusiasm by putting extra effort to build our booth, with excitement we showed it to our teachers, students, seniors and friends. We also practiced social skills when we talked and explained about our cause to everyone who showed interest.
The first day of our bookselling was not so great, because many of the people forgotten to bring their money to participate on the buying. We only sold less than a quarter of the total books. We sold the most books on second day because everyone is already aware of our booth and ready to participate. Almost half the total books were sold. The third day has slow down since everyone that interested already bought their books on the second day.
This week we also solved many misunderstandings and disagreements that happen in between our group members. The misunderstandings happen when were dividing task among ourselves, and the disagreement arise when were putting the ideas together, but with empathy, tolerance and respect to each other we were able to work it out as a team.
We showed empathy by offering help to team member who had assigned with a very difficult task and tolerance to those who sometimes forgotten to keep their deadline, at least but not last is respect others opinions by being open minded to their suggestions.
Besides fundraising rally and solving our differences, we also had an outside school day group meeting. In that meeting we had put ourselves as thinkers, we pressure and forced ourselves to be creative yet still enjoy the process. With so many ideas for the presentation, we also have to practice our communication skill to avoid conflicts. While in that meeting we discussed about the layout and ideas for the PowerPoint. We also talked about what we have to do for the exhibition. At the end we were able to finalized the ideas for our PowerPoint presentation and the plan for our exhibition.

Group Reflection #5
Fund raising/ book sale:
Transioning into week 5 we had many of our start-up tasks to follow through.
On 16th April, during our group’s brainstorming session at Karen’s house; we showed thinker by coming up with an idea to make a visit to Sekolah Pondok Domba organized by Auntie Melanie (Karen’s Mom). This is an under-privileged school whose students do not have normal school requirements such as proper lighting facilities, desk, chair, books, stationery, school premises, food etc. The students and their families live and have their homes under a bridge and shift school built there for their convenience. We upon our visit there on the 23rd of April and we donated our pooled in contribution and distributed among them; it was in terms of food and other basic requirements. It was such a joy to see their priceless expressions on their faces; which we capture in our photographs. By doing this we also showed caring. We also showed communication skills by talking to them and having fun with them. During this trip we all took individual pictures.
Our learnings from this trip were connected to our fieldtrip to Sekolah Pondok Domba to the Central Idea – poverty and we show cased feelings of empathy, compassion towards the less fortunate and under privileged. We worked well together as a team and showed sportsmen ship and most important of all we wanted to just reach out and try helping out in our best way possible. We also learned to thank GOD for all our blessings. By thanking GOD, we can show appreciation.
We made book prints of each of our individual choice pictures had them printed attached them to a spiral diary and wanted to sell them raise more funds to give back to the Sekolah Pondok Domba. So we sold them to our friends, families, teachers and also recently on May 25-27 at Binus school.
Our books were priced @ Rp 50,000/ pc. Some of the buyers thought the price to be quite high while some bought without bargaining.
Through this book sale/ fund raising we show cased our social skills by trying to convince the buyer why our book is worth its price. We also got a chance to explain our purpose and cause for this. We showed enthusiasm, and self-management skills in book keeping.
Important learnings; that we should not compare ourselves to others and be happy with what we have.
Group discussions at school:
During the past weeks, we have been staying back time to time at school for a few hours to discuss our blog material, survey questions, graph results and presentation details.
Our group members have been very cooperative with everything (though there were a few miss- understandings and difference of opinions) but all in all we all worked well together and supported each other’s ideas and suggestions.
We planned our rehearsal for our PYP exhibition performance as well and also been making constant changes to our blog as and when required in consultation with Mr. Ferdinand. A few mistakes still need to be corrected.
Learnings: team work/ showed thinker attributes and took part in all the group arranged discussions
Teacher - Mentor at School:
On 26th and 27th of May Binus arranged for another mentor session, but this time they were teachers. The teacher who mentored us was Ms. Agnes. She helped us with improving our blog and PowerPoint and gave her suggestions to make them better like adding more tabs so that it would look more organized and we can add more information.
Learnings: Open Minded and following teacher mentor's suggestions.
Interview: Ms. Sally
We had one more activity going on this week and it was our last interview. Her name is Ms. Sally Younghee Ko. However, we could not interview her face to face because she does not live in Indonesia. She resides in South Africa. So we interviewed her through emails. We emailed her seven questions and she answered all of them. We also showed

Group Reflection #6
For our PYP exhibition, we had to make a slideshow. We decided we wanted to make the slideshow about the time we went to the school under the bridge. For the background music in the slideshow, we used the song “Heal the World” by Michael Jackson. We also wanted to do a performance. We showed cooperation because when we were rehearsing the dance, we took turns sharing our ideas. We also showed confidence because when we were dancing, we also had to sing. We sang loud and clear.
This is also the time when we found out that our blog got accidentally deleted. All our reflection, research, graphs and other things we put in the blog was gone. Luckily some of us saved our work and we didn't need to do them, although we did have to remake our blog. We all cooperated well in taking turns going in the blog. Luckily we finished the blog on time for the PYP exhibition.
